Homecoming/Spirit Week is here!

The Student Council has several activities prepared for next week, including Homecoming.

Kicking it off is Spirit Week, lasting from October 16th to the 20th. On Monday, students are encouraged to wear pink to raise breast cancer awareness. Tuesday is Twin day- dress identical to a friend. Wednesday is gender swap day. Thursday is Throwback (come in 90’s clothing). And lastly Friday- students are to dress in their grade level’s colors.

In addition, a Sun Theater movie night (from 6:00pm to 8:30pm) has been talked of for the 19th, but it is unclear whether it will be taking place.

“The movie night is still being worked out,” says Laura Schuhwerk, the Makerspace teacher who moderates STUCO sessions.

For certain, a pep rally will be held the 20th followed by a high school-wide basketball tournament. Self-volunteered teams from each grade will play one another, then the staff. The tournament will take place at Confluence Prep Academy from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. and bus transportation will be available for those who wish to buy a ticket.

Last but certainly not least is Homecoming, on Saturday the 21st from 7-10pm. It will be held at school, and its theme is  “Happily Ever After Under the Stars,” coined by STUCO Vice President Mario Harris.

“…one [idea] was happily ever after, and the other one was under the stars,” said Harris, “I was like, well, we should put it together.”

Students are encouraged to dress in accordance to the theme.

Tickets for all of these events are being sold in front of the cafeterias until October 18th. As of now, a ticket for Homecoming is $15, and a ticket for the Basketball Tournament, Movie Night, and Homecoming, is $20.
