Q. What made you want to work in education?

“ I’ve always been called to a location either in education or in clergy since I was a little kid, but I was too ‘chicken’ as a young adult when I got out of college to go for it. As time went by when I finally got into my mid to late 30’s, I finally got courageous enough to leave what I was doing in [a] private industry and go back to school and become a teacher.”

Q. How many years have you been working in education?

“22.”

Q. What made you decide to work at GCAA?

“I’ve been working in public education for 20 years and the superintendent in my district was slowly making decisions that were fraying and dissembling the fine arts programs, and we really couldn’t do anything about it. Being my age, I started leaving my mind open to what I might do to still be productive and useful to students. Out of the blue [GCAA] called and asked me to [an] interview for a job.”

Q. What’s one of your favorite hobbies?

“I love traveling. Half of my family lives in England. I enjoy Europe.”

Q. What are you most looking forward to this year?’

“Hopefully to get to a point where I work 40 to 50 hours a week and sleep well every night.”
