A time when my life was changed by something random… I was coming home late from school, and I was being picked up at Nuri’s house, and it was really dark. We were just looking for my mom’s boyfriend’s keys. Then this random cat came up to us, and he was just crying and stuff. My mom didn’t want to take the cat, and I was begging to keep it, but she was already really wanting to come with us. She was hungry and skinny, so my mom said fine, and we put her on the back porch in case she had fleas. Right away the next day, we went and got flea stuff, because I just really liked her. She’s like my current cat, she’s a tabby. I still have this cat, if we came home earlier that night, I probably wouldn’t have that cat.” – Jessica Carter, junior
