Hot Links: 10 Fun Sites to Pass the Time

1. Virtual NES
Virtual NES is exactly what it sounds like. This website is perfect for gamers wanting a nostalgic feel without having to leave for an arcade or don’t know where to get a real NES, also known as the Nintendo Entertainment System. NES was an old gaming console from back in the day, if some of you readers don’t know what it is. It had memorable games such as Mario Bros, Metroid, and Legend of Zelda. If you’re looking to pass the time with retro games, this is the site for you.
2. I Need a Prompt
I Need a Prompt is a website made for people looking for something to write about. It gives rather odd scenarios that can result in hilarious or emotional short stories. Anyone up for hearing my romance story between the Queen of England and a Smurf?
3. This is Sand
This is Sand sounds a bit odd but it’s pretty fun. To put it simply, you draw with sand. If you’ve ever seen those little sand sculptures kids make where they put all the different colored sand inside one of those plastic models, it’s a bit like that, but without the models.
4. QWOP
This is another game but more unique. QWOP is a game where you play as an Olympic runner, but you can only control his calves and thighs with the Q, W, O, and P keys. The only real objective of the game is to get as far as you can without hitting your head on the ground. There is an end after 100 meters, of course, but it’s said to be incredibly hard to get to. It’s rather rage inducing, but it’s addictive none the less.
5. Poptropica
Most students have heard of Poptropica at least once, but has everyone tried it out? With new worlds being added constantly, it never seems to get old. You can create your character, solve puzzles, become a superhero, and even go to space! Although it’s meant for younger kids, the fun never fades, no matter your age!
6. Imgur
Imgur is an image sharing site full of interesting and funny content. The ‘Front Page’ is full of new content every day, while themes and inside jokes are created from certain images. It’s great to just browse through if you’re looking for a laugh.
7. The Useless Web
This website’s basically what it seems. You press a button and it sends you to a totally pointless website. Some are odd while others are hilarious. You never know where the button will take you, and you’ll definitely pass some time here.
8. Find the Invisible Cow
Find the Invisible Cow is a game much like Hot and Cold but with someone shouting… cow. Over and over again, getting quieter or louder depending on where you are from the cow. It’s pretty odd but it’s also sort of fun.
9. Hacker Typer
Type like a Hollywood Hacker! Smash buttons on your keyboard and make it look like you actually know what you’re doing! It’s a fun way to prank teachers or friends and make them think you’re a pro!
10. Staggering Beauty
No explanation is needed. You’ll understand.
WARNING: Flashing images and lights, as well as loud noises.
