Travis Armknecht, journalism and Student Media teacher, was recognized by the Missouri Journalism Education Association.  He was given the 2016 MJEA [Missouri Journalism Education Association] Rising Star award for founding and leading the Student Media program over the past three years. When asked how he felt about the award, Armknecht said,

“It was a surprise. It was validating. It’s been tough to kind of develop this program from nothing.  In three short years, we’ve gone from no publications at all to two successful, award winning publications. It’s been a lot of work. I mean a lot of the work was done by the students, but it was still great to get that statewide recognition.”
The Missouri Journalism Education Association published an article about Armknecht and the work he has done that can be found at: http://www.missourijea.org/2016-mjea-rising-star-award-winner/.
