Super-easy cherry-chocolate ‘dump cake’

Quinlan Holt, Staff Writer

This cake is something my mom makes often. It cake is extremely simple to make, and anyone can do it. I didn’t even have clear instructions the first time I made it, just vague directions told to my grandmother through the phone, and then told to me. It turned out pretty good. It can be made using different fillings and flavors of cake, and no matter what flavors you use, the cake is especially good served warm with vanilla ice cream.

You Will Need:

  1. Two cans of cherry pie (or whatever filling you choose)
  2. One box of chocolate cake mix (or whatever kind you wish)
  3. 2 sticks of butter

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees
  2. Pour the filling into the bottom of a greased pan
  3. Shake the cake mix on top of the filling
  4. Melt the butter
  5. Pour the melted butter over the cake mix. This does not have to cover all of the mix.
  6. Bake for 1 hour
  7. Let cool slightly, then serve with ice cream

Enjoy!
