Caroline Knapp, junior, visited seven colleges on the East Coasts during her spring break. The colleges she visited included: Sarah Lawrence University, Yale University, Wesleyan University, Brown University, Boston University, Wellesley College, and Smith College.

“My top three choices were Brown, Yale, and Smith because I loved the sense of community they all had, and the people I met there were all really nice,” said Knapp.

Knapp mentioned that she saw three of her friends who attend Brown, one from MICDS, and two from a camp she attended.

“In the morning, I met up for breakfast with one of my friends, John, a freshman at Brown from St. Louis, who graduated with my sister from MICDS and who I was in a musical with freshman year. For lunch, I met up with a camp friend, Yael, a sophomore from Brown from New Haven, CT. Finally, in the afternoon, I met up for coffee with my friend Sophia, also a freshman at Brown and from camp. She lives in Hartford, CT. It was really helpful to meet up with three people I knew pretty well because I asked them a ton of questions. Pretty much any questions I had about the school or just college in general, big question or small, I asked them. I also got a much better and more personal sense of the school through this; I felt like I could really tell what the college experience at Brown was like and what type of people go there just from talking to them,” said Knapp.

Knapp started her trip driving to Manhattan to drop her sister of at Barnard College, and stayed there for two days. Since she didn’t visit any colleges in that city during this trip, she was able to spend some time in the city and went on to say that she enjoyed her time in New York, mentioning that it was a nice way to kick of her trip, since the first school she visited was right outside New York City.

When asked about what advice she would offer to students going on college visits Knapp said, “Take notes! Even just writing down your thoughts of the school in general after your visit can be super helpful so you don’t forget how you feel about a school.”
