Two years ago, India Cooper, 11th grade, took a trip out of town to go to her first Korean band concert. In 2011, six South Korean boys joined together and created a hip-hop band that goes by the name of “Bap”. India did not only go to her first Korean concert, but it was her first time traveling just for a concert.

The concert began and ended with Bap performing; there were no other artist performing except for one singer performing during the intermission.

India said,  “They just came out and performed, they didn’t have an opening act or anything like that.”  The entire concert was in a foreign language, “I tried to sing along even though it was in Korean,” stated India.

At the concert, India did run into a little trouble when a group of girls tried to take India’s seats. Other than that incident the concert was great experience for India, “ One of the members Bang Yon Guk looked at me a few times,” said India.

“Actually this was the first time I went out of town for a concert and I was with my sister Jasmine.”

The concert, which was also the last Bap concert, was located in Rosemont, Illinois. In the music industry, artists sign contracts with their company that contains rules they must follow. Unfortunately, the young group of singers did not want to re-enforce the rules, so they did not renew the contract.

Cooper mentions, “ As of right now they are no longer a band. They broke up, so I am really glad I got to see them.”

In order to go to this concert, India had to raise over three hundred dollars in less than two weeks. She raised a little of four hundred dollars, and with the extra money she purchased a bag and a CD. This concert was also the first time India made her own money by helping out her family members with some everyday chores. Eventually she raised enough money to go to the concert and see one of her favorite bands perform before they retired from their career.
