Now that the Expression yearbook is finished and sent to the publisher, the editorial board of GCAA Student Media is pleased to announce the official launch of their brand-new student-run news website, GCAAtoday.com. From covering traditional news stories to reviewing new music, movies and books to highlighting the latest school events, GCAAtoday.com seeks to connect the student body through news, opinions and entertainment.

Junior Jerell McCole, GCAAtoday.com Editor-in-Chief, is excited for the possibilities the website brings to Student Media and the student body as a whole.

“I feel it’s important to know what my fellow peers are into,” McCole said. “I want people to be aware of things that are happening inside the building and outside the building.”

The media staff has been working behind-the-scenes for the past few months to build a site with a wealth of information. Recent topics have included an editorial on being biracial at GCAA, coverage of the new poetry slam club and a regular Humans of GCAA feature.

Media staff member Valera Robinson is excited to put her journalism skills to a practical use.

“We’re learning skills and are able to put them into an actual situation,” Robinson, a freshman, said. “First semester, we learned how to take photos, give interviews and write stories and this semester we’re able to put it into action. I think the whole thing is pretty cool; it shows what (media) students are doing.”

If you have a story idea or news tip for future coverage, you can email tips@gcaatoday.com and the editorial board will take it into consideration.
