They’re two of only five students from their residency program of six schools to earn the honor. Dance St. Louis identified them as exceptionally talented and motivated students with potential for careers in dance. The award program offers guidance in dance training, college and conservatory dance programs, professional auditions and careers in the world of professional dance.  Jamiakah and Raven will be presented awards on November 5 at 8:00 p.m. at the Touhill Performing Arts Center before the production of ‘Romeo and Juliet.’ For more – www.dancestlouis.org

Last Wednesday, Sherry Amen, Sarah Parach, and other students from SLU stopped by to set up two of the three Tower Gardens in the basement, and also brought fully grown herbs and vegetables to put into empty slots to get things started. Last year, Mr. Theby and his students harvested and maintained these grow towers, however this year, Mr Martin will be the host. Students will have access to fresh items such as Basil, Cilantro, Swiss Chard, Kale, and more. This provides students with the opportunity to observe and compare the different stages of plant development. In addition to this, three middle school students are prospective nominees for a paid trip to New York City in January to visit the Green Bronx Machine, where the idea of the garden towers originated from. More updates and announcements regarding the towers will be available in the office.

The prom committee will be meeting on Wednesday morning during advisory in Ms. Young’s room, 302.

The senior class will have a meeting this Friday, November 4th, beginning at 8:15. The meeting will last about 45 minutes. Senior will return to their B2 class around 9 AM. A representative from Balfour will be here to present the graduation cap/gown order information.

Senior committee will meet Friday morning, immediately following the senior meeting.

The last day to purchase GCAA Tervis Tumblers as a part of the Photo Department fundraiser is FRIDAY!!!  Find a photo student or Mrs. Munguia for more information.

Seniors are reminded to get their parent signed graduation status letters returned to Mr. R. Smith, guidance counselor, as soon as possible. They were mailed home October 21. If your parent did not receive yours, please see Mr. R. Smith.

There will be a Close Up Washington, D.C. middle school trip interest meeting on Wednesday, November 2. All students who are interested should ask their parents to attend. We are scheduled to spend three days in D.C. and one day in Philadelphia from May 14-17. This year the trip is open to all middle school students. Please see Mr. Newton to sign up. The parent meeting will be in room 210 at 3:30 and will last about 15 minutes.
