GCAA holds first prom in schools history, theme “Frost and Flame”
May 27, 2016
As the 2015-2016 school year comes to an end, students look back on some of GCAA’s first-time events. Specifically, on April 23rd, at the Windows on Washington venue, GCAA presented their first prom, with the theme, “Frost and Flame”.
Senior Jasmyne Everett provides feedback on the setting, and overall experience of the night.
“I definitely think it was a good first prom, it probably wasn’t the best, but it was to us because it was our first prom, and for it to be our first GCAA prom, I think it was pretty good. The setting was amazing, and there was extra room we didn’t even use. I think it went pretty well,”
If given the chance to change one thing about prom, Everett said she would change the nomination process for prom King and Queen.
“I feel like you should be able to advertise or campaign for prom King and Queen, and we were not allowed to do that, and it was so sudden and fast,”
However, Everett also expressed how much fun she had.
“It was a fun night, one of the best nights actually. I think for the next years, if it’s just the way prom was this year, prom will be great.”
Junior Autumn Spilker shares her experience at GCAA’s first prom, and how it exceeded her expectations.
“The prom committee put all their stuff together and got the Windows on Washington venue, which was gorgeous, that came with food, and fancy drinks and what not. It was really, really awesome compared to the expectation,”
