Ryan Maclin, orchestra director
Q: Why did you choose GCAA?
A: Because it’s a performing arts school and I’ve heard great things about the music program and I saw great things last year when I worked as the ISS supervisor.
Q: Where were you before you came to this school?
A: I went to Lindenwood University for music performance education and I also have a masters in education – then I recently just acquired my EDA for Administration.
Q: What’s different at this school from the university you were working at?“
A: I would say more parent interaction. Other than that the kids are awesome and play at a very high level and I guess it’s just different levels of kids versus adults.
Q: Where did you go to college?
A: University of Arkansas; I went there for my undergrad and Lindenwood for my masters.
Q: What is your long term goal for your classes?
A: I would say to just make them as excellent as possible and teach them musicianship and artistry.
Q: What is your favorite instrument to teach?
A: Percussion, but orchestra is growing on me.
