Gina Bell-Moore, High School Principal, speaks to junior and senior classes about the problem of violent threats at school.

Dear GCAA Families,

Recently, administration was informed of incidents involving allegations of threats of violence in the school environment.   This is disappointing to all of us as providing a safe environment is our top priority.  After becoming informed of each incident, we followed our school safety procedures and conducted a full investigation to ensure the safety of everyone in the building.  Upon conclusion of the investigations, please know that everyone is safe and nobody has been injured or hurt.  The students who were directly involved in the allegations have been addressed.
Our investigation included statements from student witnesses and classroom educators.  While we cannot release specific details, please know that we take situations such as this seriously.  To continue ensuring the safety of students and staff, we will have an increased presence of security in the building.  Grade level meetings are scheduled for today and tomorrow to discuss the importance of school safety.

We will continue to take the appropriate steps to ensure the safety of all students.  Your continued support is appreciated as we ask that you assist the school’s efforts by reiterating to your child the importance of school safety and sharing any pertinent information with members of the administration, faculty, and staff immediately.
Again, your continued support is appreciated as we work to continue ensuring the safety of all GCAA students, faculty, and staff.  Parents, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact a member of the administration at (314) 533-1791.

Sincerely,

Gina Bell-Moore, Syreeta Holland, and Rebecca Irving
