With four nominees in each category, a nominee for King walked with a nominee for Queen down an aisle to the DJ stand. "I was really surprised, honestly. I didn't think I'd win 'cause I don't have any friends but I did work really hard and I promoted myself," homecoming queen Nuri Broady said.

A homecoming with friends is what makes the night special for seniors, Martese Davis and Neva’eh Moorehead. “24/7 It’s a stress. It’s stressors, you always feel like something’s on your shoulder. Something always brings you down. We’re always gonna have responsibilities to handle...To just realize it’s okay to kinda relax, I would say that’s why it’s important to go out and be with your friends," Davis said.

The spotlight is on him as senior Martese Davis takes the dance floor. Davis is an outgoing person and never shies away from an opportunity to dance. “I think once I got to GCAA and I really started dancing. I really start like, you know, discovering who I am and what I’m comfortable with. It kinda just became second nature to go wild when a song came on and just dance,” Davis said.

“Alec Benjamin “Let Me Down Slowly” because I’m guessing that if it’s going to be a movie, the character’s going to have a fall. Right? So, that’s like the best song for that. It’s a really nice song i listen to it all the time. For the part where the character would bounce back from their fall, I would choose “Lose Yourself” by Eminem, because I like the vibes from the song for a part like that. During an intense part, “Easier to Run” by Linkin Park would be perfect for that.”

“For the first song, I’ll say “Dream On” by Aerosmith, because I like it. Probably “Lightning Crashes” by LIVE, because it’s got a really meaningful story in the lyrics. It’s about a woman - a friend they had who passed away during childbirth. That’s basically the story. Lastly, “Your Love” by the Outfield, because it’s a really, really good song. It’s a song about a guy in a long-term relationship and he’s having trouble with it. He’s doing things he shouldn’t be doing when he’s in a relationship. It starts off with this girl who’s on vacation and he calls her over.”

“Song number 1 would be like a classical piece by Mozart or someone for like the first half of the movie, because when I start my day it’s pretty chill and peaceful. So, it’ll be narrating me walking through the halls, talking to my friends, going to advisory, waking up and taking a shower, etc. Then towards the middle of the movie, it would be a sad song because through second and third period I’m like mad/sad, especially on A-days, because I have last lunch. The last hour and a half of that movie would probably be “What Time Is It?” from High School Musical 2, because when I get out of school I’m so happy as soon as I get home. I go to sleep and then I do my homework. It’s just smooth sailing for me getting out of school. So, probably those three songs.”
