Middle School Student Council will sponsor a Rummage Sale Saturday, January 28, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the South Cafeteria. Proceeds will benefit GCAA’s first Grade 8 Awards Dinner/Dance as well as the Counselors’ Emergency Fund. Donations are being sought now. Please drop off your gently used clothing, toys, or household items before or after school in Ms. Oyola or Ms. Zeisset’s rooms. For larger donation loads, please drop off items the day before the sale, Friday, January 27, after school at the South Café door facing Grandel Square.

The Gay Straight Alliance will be meeting next Tuesday, January 24th in room 113 from 3:15-4:15.

There will be a Red Cross Blood Drive on Jan. 18th from 9am-1:45.  Students interested in giving blood must be 16 or older.  16 years olds will need to have a consent form signed.  You can sign up during your lunch shifts this week and early next week at the STUCO Blood Drive Table set up in the lobby between the north and south cafeterias.

Dance For Food is a food drive event happening on Sunday, January 29th at 3pm in the Sun Theater.  Come watch professional groups from around the St Louis area join together to give back to the community, including Big Muddy Dance Company and MADCO.  Admission to the show is a bag of non-perishable foods.  This is going to be an incredible show and will help feed hungry families across our city. Dance for Food is sponsored by Artists for a Cause.

Children’s Education Alliance of Missouri announced the top 3 and top 10 finalists of their essay contest, “My Future My Choice”. Students from GCAA submitted their essays, and the top 3 finalists include, Rachel Mueller and Patrick O’Brien, 9th grade. The top 10 finalists include Lila Armbruster, 8th grade; Amirah Bauder, Sydney Malone and Jadee Sharratt, 9th grade.
