On Friday, January 5th, GCAA held its second blood drive for the American Red Cross.  Throughout the day, thirty-nine students who were over 16 years old went over to the sun theater to donate blood. While every student did not meet the health requirements necessary to give blood, 23 students were able to donate. Each student had to go through a health screening before they were allowed to donate, had a nurse withdraw one pint of blood, and then they were advised to sit and eat a snack and drink water. It was very important that each student made sure that their body was taken care of after losing blood.

Benjamin Dinwiddie, the sponsor for student council, organized and led the drive. When asked how he felt the day went, Dinwiddie said, “I’m just really proud of the selflessness of our students and the effort they put forward to make the drive a success.” The blood that was donated will be used in medical research, as well as given to patients in hospitals.
