On Saturday, April 4th, freshman Patra Patton got what she had wished for. When she looked out the window, there was a small white dog running around in between houses and on the sidewalk. Patton walked outside to see where the dog went. She asked multiple neighbors if it belonged to them. None of the neighbors claimed her and one replied with, “Ew, no!”

“Maybe it was because of her under-bite and smushed in face that made her seem unappealing, but I thought she was adorable,” said Patton.

She then asked one more neighbor and got some answers. Patton was surprised when the neighbor said that it was their dog, but they did not want her anymore.

“Why have two dogs, when you can have three?” Patton said when she realized she wanted the dog.

She asked if she could have her, and they said yes. The wife came out with a leash and food to give to Patton before going home. Lola is her new name, and she is a Pekingese with long white hair.

“It was weird because the exact same morning, I was telling my mom how much I wanted a small dog. Then, a couple hours later, I got one for free! I was ecstatic.”

When Patton got home she took a picture with her new pet and made an announcement on Snapchat with the caption, “Welcome to the family Lola!”

“This was a memorable experience because it showed that if you want something, go get it!” Patton said.
